April 24 Playlists

A truly gorgeous Spring Day today had people crankin' up the 60s tunes. Heard from so many of you that liked the sounds you were hearing. Means a lot.

Had a blast sitting in for Eatabone's "Bachelor Pad At Colony Three" tonight. Thanks, Jonny, for the chance to sub for ya. But everybody misses you and wants you back because you ARE very randy!

April 17 Playlist + Subbing For Bachelor Pad

http://wvkr.radioactivity.fm/playlist.html?djoid=1633&date=04-17-2009

Let me explain the rationale behind today's "Lost And Found Seventies Show". I originally had a traditional show planned, a mixture of pop, rock, bubblegum, country and soul rarities spanning the decade. But something happened on my 45 minute midday commute home Thursday that had me chuckin' the playlist and starting over.

We finally got our Spring Break Thursday here in the Hudson Valley--temps in the 60s, sun shining and just wanted to rock and rhythm out with the windows rolled down 70s style. I starting flipping through the radio dial in an effort to find some consistent good ol rock n roll or R&B to follow me home but the scan just kept up its repetitive regret leaving me frustrated and angry.

CBS-FM, Q104.3, PDH, KISS FM would occasionally throw me a musical bone, but for the most part managed to disappoint big time. I never knew there was so much Red Hot Chili Peppers, Led Zeppelin and Rolling Stones on commercial radio! In less than an hour while surfing the dial, I heard records by each of these acts no less than two times on various stations in our area!

So today's show was pretty much the kind of music that reflected the type of sounds I'd like to hear blastin' through my speakers the way they did in various Aprils in the 70s. Heard from lots of great listeners, a lot tuning in from their cars as well as backyards, kitchen and of course, good ol' work. How'd it sound to YOU?

Next week it's a double dose of Sammy--3:00 has "Lost And Found Sixties" and then from 6 to 7 I'll fill in for Jonny in "The Bachelor Pad At Colony Three". Very Randy!

Looking forward to rockabilly band The Greyhounds Saturday April 18 at The Brass Rail in The Holiday Inn in Fishkill on Route 9 at 10pm. Hope to see you there! EMAIL: lostoldies@yahoo.com

Thanks for listening!

April 10 Playlist + Sammy's PSA + Greyounds Live

Wow, lotsa great phone pheedback from you guys! THANKS!!

All the records on today's show were just coming on the charts right around this week in either 1965, '66 or '67, probably THE best years for music EVER. I coulda filled a FOUR hour show and still not run outta good tunes. Here's what ya heard:

I read a PSA at the beginning and end of the show that I wrote myself. I cannot beLIEVE the amount of trash and litter I'm seeing on the roads this Spring. I took a tall kitchen bag and walked down my street and filled the thing within 10 minutes. What compels someone to throw garbage out a car window? And notice it's mostly fast food, cigarette, or alcohol-related trash. sigh....

I guess people who don't respect their bodies don't respect their planet, either. Shameful.

And it'll be a doggone shame if you miss rockabilly band The Greyhounds playing LIVE at The Brass Rail on Route 9 at the Holiday Inn Saturday April 18 beginning at 10pm. I'll be there for sure and I'm gonna try to corral as many VKR DJs to join me. You be there. Email me for more info.

Hope your holidays are safe and joyous; Thanks for listening and Happy Birthday Eatabone!!!

April 3, 1969 Playlist + Vacation Views

First Friday Of The Month= AM Radio Flashback 40 years ago this week. So guess what? Aint gonna be all rock. So don't complain. 'Kay? Change the dial if it's killin' ya. Thanks.

Based on the calls today, seems most of you liked the show. Lots. Most of you are early 50s. Oldest was 66; youngest was 20. Cool! Do you know how much your calls mean to me? Lots. Wish I had more time. More time!!!
Miss any of the show: Click below:

Sparky survived 4 nights alone while I was on Vay Cay; by all reports even had a good time mingling with the other dogs. That's my boy!

St. Martin--beautiful! U.S. tourists--horrid!
Do ya really need to be wasted by noon? Do ya really have to bring your boom box to the hotel pool?
And why is it that the people you'd most rather not see naked are the biggest patronizers of the nude beach which was just down aways from our hotel? Yeesh.
Got any vacation horror stories? Thoughts about this week's show? lostoldies@yahoo.com or post a comment below.
THANKS FOR LISTENING!
