September 25 Playlist + Update

Thanks for the all the supportive calls welcoming me back.
My future on WVKR is still up in the air, but believe me, it's NOT because I don't LOVE what I do, quite the opposite. There's just some....things going on and if I *DO* leave, it will be better for ALL, especially YOU, the listeners! How can that be, Sammy? Trust me on this one, kay? For now just keep it tuned to Independent 91.3 www.wvkr.org !

Eatabone an I offered to fill in for Joel Tyner while he's on hiatus due to the election--can't have a radio show and run for office--but my Email was never responded to, and found out 2nd hand that Exec Staff might air a repeat of Democracy Now, which is what happened. (Just wish someone would have let me know for sure)....Got some calls re: this issue. One was opposed to the Dem Now repeat, one was just as rabidly FOR, one caller thought that Fridays could be devoted to just music. Where do YOU stand?

Also, Tony O is no longer on WVKR--not sure if that's temporary or permanent--what's YOUR take on the situation? Gonna miss him?

Today's show saluted the wonderful pledgers who donated during my show and featured MORE 1969 music. See? http://wvkr.radioactivity.fm/playlist.html?showoid=1666&date=09-25-2009

Lyn The She Devil fills in for me October 2nd. Email lostoldies@yahoo.com
LOVE your feedback!

Thanks for listening!

Those are just the people that called during my shift but I also need to thank
Suzanne from Vassar who donated online and wanted me to know she enjoyed the show and to EVERYONE ELSE who mentioned LAFOS as one of their favorite shows. You're tops!
Today's show was a little difficult, and not just because of the date of its broadcast.
In case you missed the announcement at the end of the show, I will be OFF THE AIR for at least the next 3 weeks, hopefully not longer, but no guarantees at this point.
You must know that doing the show has been the highlight of my week for the last 5 1/2 years you've let me into your homes, cars, offices. Your support, either by phone, email, or in person has been truly valued--I KNOW who you are and hopefully YOU do too--THANK YOU!
Check back here to find out when (if?) I'll be back on the air.

Wow, sad to say goodbye to The Summer of '69; So many great memories. Hope you heard some of your favorites and maybe made some new faves as a result of tuning in.

http://wvkr.radioactivity.fm/playlist.html?showoid=1666&date=09-04-2009

Two albums debuted on the Billboard Album Chart 40 years ago this week: "Everything's Archie" and the Soundtrack to"Easy Rider." Sp0tlighted both of those LPs today; was taking votes from the callers and the majority of you preferred "ER" but not by much. And some of you agreed with me that BOTH are equally deserving of merit. So true!

The WVKR Pledge Drive starts Tuesday, September 8th. Hopefully you can donate some $$$ to the station to keep it running for another year. I'm hoping to get a minimum of 40 people to call in their support. NO DONATION IS TOO SMALL!

Would love your feedback as always lostoldies@yahoo.com.

THANKS FOR LISTENING! I've had a blast!

August 28 Playlist + WVKR Ramblings

Not sure why Blogger won't let me paste the link into these posts anymore but you can still access the playlist here: http://www.wvkr.radioactivity.fm
and check out ALL the great (and not-so-great) playlists WVKR has.

In the GREAT category is the GREAT Primitive George who was really missed and sounded GREAT both shifts he was on this week. Welcome back, G. Thanks for hangin with me during the first half of my show today, too. Appreciate it.

Don't understand why VKR management has not informed us about the pledge drive which is supposed to start Sept. 8! I even asked one of the exec staff today--less than 2 weeks before the pledge drive--AND SHE WASN'T SURE!!! oy.....

Get your requests in for MY portion of the pledge drive. Next Friday September 4 is the culmination of The Summer of '69 so TUNE IN!

Comments welcome at lostoldies@yahoo.com and as always
THANKS FOR LISTENING!

August 21 Playlists + WVKR Musings

Filled in for Primitive George for 2 hours today, allowing me to bring you the Ultimate Summer of '69 playlist. Hope you caught all of it. Google WVKR radioactivity and click on "sammyboy".

Honestly, it was only for fans who have fond memories of the Summer of "69. Played some overdone stuff but it makes sense IN CONTEXT!

But the REAL news is Joel Tyner having Pete Seeger LIVE in the studio today! I noticed a small sign on the studio door and mentioned it throughout the show, but WVKR did not see fit to put the news on its website?! This is insane! Pete was absolutely wonderful and as much as I love The Bachelor Pad, I'm not so sure I would have been able to dismiss the treasure that is Pete Seeger so quickly.

Next Friday is Lost And Found SEVENTIES! Email your suggestions to lostoldies@yahoo.com

Thanks for listening!

Woodstock '69 Playlist + Next Week Preview

Today's show featured every artist (except Quill) who played at Woodstock '69. What other radio program can make that claim? Yet the response was....tepid at best. Yikes. Here's what you heard (or didn't hear):

August 7 Playlist + August 14 Preview

How great to have Sam The Tattoo Man back again programming the music.
Sam is a generous contributor to the annual WVKR pledge drive and brought in tunes that captured the spirit of Woodstock '69 or featured artists that COULDA been there but weren't. I must confess I didn't expect Elvis Costello in the mix, but it WORKED! Miss anything?

Would love to know what YOU thought: lostoldies@yahoo.com

Join me Friday August 14 for at least one hour, maybe more, of Woodstock '69 musical memories featuring songs and artists NOT included on the Original Soundtrack Album.

Thanks for listening!
