May 30, 2008 Playlist And Our Thoughts On The Show

http://wvkr.radioactivity.fm/playlist.html?djoid=1633

The link above will take you to the 2-hour May 30, 1968 playlist of the show that aired this afternoon.

We went with a full 2 hour 1968 look back to remember Dick Martin, who passed away earlier this week. Martin was one of the co-hosts of "Laugh In" and the response to the many clips played from that classic series was quite positive.

Only Half positive was the response to Tiny Tim's "Tip Toe Through The Tulips With Me". Hey, every few years or so, it's required listening!

And many of you didn't know Harvey Korman died! Not to mention Earle Hagen who wrote and whistled "The Andy Griffith Show" theme. Talented men will be missed.

Here's a sampling of the phone calls received during the show:

Cream "Anyone For Tennis" no one plays that anymore

Blue Cheeer "Summertime Blues" never get tired of that one, Sammy!

Bobby Vee "My Girl/Hey Girl" it's warped, take it off.

Gary Puckett & The Union Gap "Lady Willpower" I remember singing this at full volume in the car! and Is This one of their Top hits?

Vivian Reed "Yours Until Tomorrow" Who sings this, Sammy? and Who is Vivian Reed?

Cryan Shames "Up On The Roof" I LIKE this version! Never heard it before.

Animals "Sky Pilot" Thanks for playing the long version.

Seekers "The Sad Cloud" Is this Spanky & Our Gang?

Soul Survivors "Impossible Mission" What's the name of this record?

Amboy Dukes "Journey To The Center Of The Mind" The Sugarbeats do a great version of this. and Didn't this song come out later in 68? (Yes, but in Detroit, it was already on the charts 40 years ago this week--sammy)

Jefferson Airplane--Greasy Heart Makes me wanna get out my dusty Crown Of Creation LP

Archie Bell & The Drells--Tighten Up I haven't heard this in a long time! (really?--sammy)

Next week it's Lost And Found EIGHTIES, but maybe not for the full 2 hours as announced. Found out the guest might not be able to make it. Tune in anyway and see what happens.

Also, the station brass is aware of the distorted sound. (Wasn't the quality of Joel Tyner's mic level horrendous???) Hopefully that issue will be rectified soon.

Thanks for listening! Post a comment or Email me at lostoldies@yahoo.com
